It can be a fun experience when you’re searching for the right luxury sedan to take out on the road. This is especially true when choosing between the BMW 5 Series vs. Audi A6. Both models offer alluring style, notable features, and remarkable performance. When it’s time to choose, ultimately which one should you pick?
At BMW of Atlantic City, we’re here to help drivers in Atlantic City, Egg Harbor, and Vineland learn the true differences between the 2020 BMW 5 Series and the 2020 Audi A6. You’ll learn what they offer, so that you can determine which one is the right luxury sedan for you.
Both of these stylish luxury automobiles offer impressive performances with their respective engines.
The 2020 BMW 5 Series comes standard with a 2.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine that delivers an impressive 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. However, to the fearless road warrior, that may not be enough. Enter in the available 4.4L BMW M Performance TwinPower Turbo V8 engine that churns out 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque.
The 2020 Audi A6 provides its own noteworthy performance through its two engine options. However, the most powerful option, a 3.0L 6-cylinder engine, will give you just 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.
Furthermore, the 5 Series can go from 0 to 60 MPH in an astounding 3.6 seconds. Plus, it can have a top track speed of 155 MPH with performance tires and an increased top-speed limiter. The A6, meanwhile, has a top track speed of 130 MPH and will take 5.1 seconds to go from 0 to 60 MPH.
The 2020 5 Series and the 2020 A6 are luxury models, so that means they both offer plenty of style and creature comforts. This includes a driver memory system that stores your preferred seating and mirror positions if you swap driving duties, so that you can easily readjust to your comfort.
However, the BMW offers 20-way power Multi-contour front seats. They include adjustments for the shoulders and thighs—ensuring you stay relaxed during your entire drive to work. Unfortunately, the Audi offers only 12-way power front seats.
Another big difference between these models is the amount of passenger room they provide. This is particularly noticeable in the front, where the 5 Series has 38.8 inches of headroom and 58.7 inches of shoulder room.
The A6, in comparison, has just 38 inches of headroom and 57.8 inches of shoulder room in the first row. So, if you’re on the taller side, you may feel more comfortable riding in the BMW.
In terms of technology, the BMW 5 Series has a noticeable lead in what it offers. It features a 10.25-inch high-resolution touchscreen with BMW Navigation and a voice command system as well as a 12-speaker HiFi Sound System.
The Audi A6, on the other hand, comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, voice control, and a 10-speaker audio system.
However, both models come standard with Apple CarPlay®. Simply plug your smartphone into the vehicles’ USB ports and watch as your favorite mobile apps appear on their respective display screens. You can then send texts, access podcasts, and more—all without handling your mobile device while driving.
